$775,000
Welcome to Creekside Commons: an intergenerational cohousing community nestled on nine acres in the heart of the Comox Valley. Unit 311 is a bright, quiet duplex home that offers the chance to experience intentional living in a supportive, thriving, and well-developed community. Community members choose their level of involvement, working on various teams, projects, and social activities.
Owners benefit by being able to use a 3,500 sq. ft. Common House, which includes a large space for gatherings, yoga, dances, classes, and movie nights. There is also a meeting room, lounge, playroom, piano, two guest rooms and a well-stocked kitchen where shared meals are prepared.
The property includes common and personal vegetable gardens, greenhouses, children's play spaces, labyrinth, picnic areas, and boat storage. Creekside is an environmentally conscious community with extensive recycling and composting areas, and two electric vehicle charging stations.
There is also a 600 sq. ft. workshop with a quality selection of tools that are available for community use, and a small paint room plus art/craft room with pottery wheel.

Interior
This 2007 quality-built and well-maintained 1,370 sq. ft. duplex home has three bedrooms – one up and two down – two full baths, and a storage/laundry room over a dry, heated three-foot crawl space. Large windows and five skylights provide for a bright and cheery atmosphere.
The living space is open concept with alder flooring. Double glass doors lead from the living room to a covered patio. All main floor rooms have 36” wide doors to allow wheelchair accessibility and aging in place. The home has several “green” features, including solar panels, a new heat pump, and a garden and greenhouse.

Kitchen
This renovated kitchen has quartz countertops, tile backsplash, carbon filtration at the sink, cork flooring, and upgraded appliances, which are included in the sale. Additional drawers and cupboards have been added to the original design.

Bedrooms
The downstairs front bedroom has alder flooring, built in shelving, and looks out onto the common area. It can also be used as an office.
The downstairs back bedroom has alder flooring, a double Murphy bed and built in cupboards. It looks through a small greenhouse into an open meadow.
The upstairs master bedroom has wool carpet and an ensuite bathroom. The stairs are also carpeted.

The front and side yards are attractively landscaped, and the fenced back yard has blueberry bushes, a plum tree, and raised beds. All areas have micro-irrigation installed. A 50 sq. ft. lean-to greenhouse increases the length of the growing season and is ideal for seed starting. The covered back porch with skylights allows outdoor enjoyment, even on rainy days. Also on the back porch is a large storage cupboard for garden tools or camping equipment; it could be adapted for bicycle storage.
There is an outdoor cat enclosure (catio) outside the living room window, which can be easily removed if not wanted.

The Community
Creekside Commons was completed in 2007 and has grown into a friendly, cooperative intergenerational community of 36 households. The Creekside strata has a healthy contingency fund for future repairs and maintenance. Creekside owners run the community through consensus decision-making and volunteer labour, working on various teams, projects and social events. Strata fees are currently $325 per month.
The property has a rural sense yet is conveniently accessible to many urban resources. Within walking distance is lively downtown Courtenay, the library, Driftwood mall with a movie theatre, and a funky coffee house in artsy Tin Town. Outdoor farmers' markets provide locally produced fruits, vegetables, wine, cheese and other products all year round. And all within a 30-minute drive are Comox International airport, world class mountain biking in Cumberland, hiking, alpine and Nordic skiing at Mt Washington. Canoeing, kayaking, and beachcombing are popular activities in the area. As well, Creekside Commons is adjacent to a park with extensive wooded walking trails.
