Welcome to Creekside Commons: an intergenerational cohousing community nestled on nine acres in the heart of the Comox Valley. #410 is a bright home that offers the chance to experience intentional living in a supportive, thriving, and well-developed community. Community members choose their own level of involvement, working on various teams, projects, and social activities.
Owners benefit by being able to use a 3,500 sq. ft. Common House, which includes a large hall for gatherings, yoga, dances, classes, and movie nights. Also, find a meeting room, lounge, play room, two guest rooms and a well stocked kitchen.
Our nine acres of property include common and private vegetable gardens, a greenhouse, orchard, children's play spaces, labyrinth, picnic areas, and boat storage. Creekside is an environmentally conscious community with extensive recycling and composting areas, and an electric vehicle charging station.
There is also a 600 sq ft workshop with a quality selection of tools that are available for community use, and a small paint room plus art/craft room with pottery wheel.
The property has a rural sense yet is conveniently accessible to many urban resources. Within walking distance, or a short bike ride, is lively downtown Courtenay, the library, Driftwood mall with a movie theatre, and a funky coffee house in artsy Tin Town. And all within a 30-minute drive are Comox International airport, world class mountain biking in Cumberland, and downhill and cross-country skiing at Mt Washington. As well, Creekside Commons is adjacent to a park with extensive wooded walking trails.
This 2007 quality-built and well-maintained 1,500 sq. ft. duplex home has four bedrooms –two up and two down – two full baths, and a storage/laundry room over a clean, dry, heated three-foot crawl space. The open concept, vaulted ceiling living space is filled with light, including five skylights, and opens onto the private back patio through French doors. All main floor rooms have 36” doors to allow aging in place. The main floor has new vinyl flooring with cork underlay (2017), while the stairs and upper floor have wool carpet in good condition. In 2019, window film was installed on all skylights to provide both winter insulation and summer heat reduction. Also in 2019, the attic insulation was upgraded. A new hot water tank was installed in 2017.
